GRASSROOTS group Ealing Independents is seeking candidates to stand in the forthcoming May 2022 Ealing council elections.

Ealing Independents has invited borough residents to come forward to represent their community and stand as an Ealing Independents councillor.

The candidates will represent residents in Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale, and Southall.

Ealing Independents was set up in February 2021 by Ealing resident Leslie Bunder with the goal to stand independent candidates to contest in the Ealing local elections next May.

The group is in the process of creating a people's manifesto, based on the issues presented by residents and businesses across the borough.

Bunder said: "We can do things the other parties can't do and talk only about local issues, and be a new force and do things a bit differently."

He added: "Politics can be boring to people but it impacts our life so much."

Bunder started the group after becoming "fed up" with local politics.

He said: "You moan and groan, so I said to myself, you might as well do something."

The group said it is, 'the party that loves Ealing, and its councillors 'will ensure residents are never ignored'.

Since its inception the group has grown via Twitter, with 309 followers as it stands.

The group also recently became a founding member of the Independents In London network.

Independents in London gives residents across London greater awareness of how independents in power can run in councils, and encourages the growth of independent candidates and parties taking part in London local elections.

Residents who would like to stand as a candidate can email their interest to [email protected] or call 07862 748611.
