ALL residents in the borough of Ealing are to have on-street vehicle charging points within a ten-minute walk, Ealing Council have stated.
This comes as the Council announced their aim to have 300 electric vehicle charging points by the end of the year.
There are currently 176 electric charge points in the borough and the council is installing another 150 with suppliers Source London and Siemens Ubitricty.
The council hopes this will help more people switch to electric vehicles, which they say are more cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.
This is part of the council's wider climate strategy, which aims to cut carbon emissions in the borough and achieve 'net zero' by 2030.
Councillor Deirdre Costigan, deputy leader and cabinet member for climate action, said: "We are committed to tackling climate change and improving local air quality."By putting in place electric vehicle charging points we are supporting residents to take up the use of electric vehicles.
"It is all part of our ambitious commitment to active improve the way we travel, which includes cycle routes, school streets, 24-hour bus lanes and two permanent low traffic neighbourhoods to make active making travel more healthy, accessible and easy for all of us."
In a council Youtube video she added there was a very high demand for the charging points and unfortunately that it is "not possible to install them in every location due to physical and safety considerations".
This week marks the Great Big Green Week with events across the borough organised by Ealing Climate Action Hub.
