Car repair shop to make way for 134 co-living units in West Ealing

Developers have been given the green light to build 134 'modern' shared living homes in Broadway, west Ealing.
Ealing Council's planning committee agreed on 7 August to plans from UK Lux One SPV 13 Ltd, to bring 134 shared homes to the area and see the demolition of car servicing company Kwik Fit.
The proposed building will be stepped from four to nine storeys with communal areas, ground floor commercial space and associated refuse storage and cycle parking.
Previously, an application was granted subject to legal agreement in July 2023 in relation to a smaller portion of the allocated site for a block ranging in height from four to nine stories but made up of 94 co-living units.
It will also consists of a café open to the public on the ground floor.
The homes come with co-working spaces, kitchens, dining areas, lounge area, quiet area, games space, an outdoor podium level terrace.
Each room will have a sleeping area, living area, kitchenette, shower room and built-in storage.
The co-living units are arranged on floors one to seven, 21 units per floor on floors one to three, 20 on fourth floor, 19 on fifth floor, and 16 on sixth and seventh floor.

Additionally, UK Lux One SPV 13 Ltd proposes to install a total of 101 cycle parking spaces located in two ground floor stores, one access is to the front of the site on to Broadway and the other will be accessed to the rear of the site of Coldershaw Road.
In the report, Planning Officer, Fernanda Calore writes: "Overall, the scheme will provide a number of planning and regeneration benefits including a sizeable increase in the housing stock, some funding for the provision of off-site affordable housing, activation of the street frontage, and in the order of £1,159,289.29 in S106 contributions with CIL contributions payable to the GLA in addition.
"On balance, it is considered that the proposed development is consistent with the aims of the relevant policies of the adopted Ealing Core Strategy (2012), Ealing DPD (2013), The London Plan (2021), Relevant Supplementary Planning Guidance and the National Planning Policy Framework (2023) and the emerging policies of Ealing's Local Plan."
The planning committee voted unanimously in favour for the block of co-living homes in West Ealing.
