History of the Great West Road

Via Zoom (see our website for link)

UNTIL Thursday 8th July

Illustrated talk about the history of the Great West Road. Our speaker, James Marshall, is the author of The History of the Great West Road: its social and economic influence on the surrounding area. The stretch of the Great West Road south of Ealing was opened in 1925 and was known as the Golden Mile because of the concentration of industry along the road. The factories along this stretch included the Firestone Tyre Company, the Gillette Factory and the Pyrene Fire Extinguisher Company (pictured). Several examples of the Art Deco architecture remain. All are welcome to come to what will be a very interesting evening. The Zoom link will be on our Events page.
