If acting on climate change is one of your 2022 new year's resolutions, then the #ActForEaling Partners' Mixer hopes to help you take the first step.
Following a successful launch in September 2021, #ActForEaling is inviting all Ealing residents to pop in to Open Ealing between 3pm and 6pm this Saturday to celebrate the climate action which took place in the borough in 2021.
The event will also congratulate the winners of the inaugural climate-positive photography competition and find out how to #ActForEaling in 2022.
The photography competition judges, including Ealing resident and Strictly Come Dancing celebrity, Mel Giedroyc, had a tough job choosing the winners from the excellent range of entries.
After much deliberation, #ActForEaling was delighted to announce the competition winners:
Youth Class
Winner: Zachary Avedian
With a special mention going to Leo Ghislanzoni Adult Class Winner: Maya JaggerFirst runner up: Roly West
Second runner up: Gayle Labib The winners will receive a private guided tour of Perivale Wood with rangers from the Selborne Society, one of ActForEaling's local partners, explaining the fascinating climate action that is taking place in one of Britain's oldest private nature reserves. #ActForEaling is the borough's new community-led climate action hub celebrating the climate and environmental action taking place in the borough so that residents can learn what they can do to make Ealing a greener and more sustainable community. In 2022, #ActForEaling hopes to mobilise and support the borough to adopt climate positive steps as part of Ealing's journey to reach net zero, restore nature and strengthen biodiversity. Over the next six months residents can visit the photography exhibition as it tours the borough's libraries. Everyone in Ealing can also visit the #ActForEaling mural which was painted by the community to inspire #ActForEaling's 10 practical steps to boost everyday sustainability. The mural was showcased at COP26 to highlight the vital role of local communities in driving action for a more sustainable future. Learn how you can get involved with the exciting climate positive opportunities available in Ealing at the #ActForEaling mixer from 3pm-6pm on Saturday 22nd January at Open Ealing, Unit 14, School Lane, Dickens Yard, W5 2TD.
