EALING Liberal Democrats have reacted to Friday's (June 18), Chesham and Amersham by-election win.

The Liberal Democrats managed to overturn a 16,000-vote Tory majority (25% points) and win control of a seat that had been in Conservative hands since its creation in 1974.

Leader of Ealing Lib Dems, Gary Malcolm, said: "The election is a result of residents shouting loud and clear that they are sick of being taken for granted by the incumbent administration.

"A similar story could well happen in Ealing Borough with the Labour party who are arrogant on issues such as LTNs, the Fishers Lane scheme and unsuitably tall towers that nobody in the borough wants.

"It's time that Ealing Labour stop schmoozing with the developers and starts to do some listening.

"Take this as a warning that the Liberal Democrats will do well in next year's local elections."
