EALING Broadway's Tesco Metro has been rebranded into a Tesco Express.

Regular shoppers first reported on the price hikes last week, with no announcement being made public by the supermarket chain.

The Metro store which first opened in 2007 would price match with other supermarket chains on identical products, but following its rebranding, this will no longer be the case.

A Tesco spokesperson said: "Over the last few years, we have seen our customers' shopping habits change and we have taken the decision to rebrand all of our Metro stores to better reflect this.

"Our Metro format was originally designed for larger, weekly shops, but today nearly 70% of customers use them as convenience stores, buying food for that day so the majority of them will be rebranded as Express stores."

The remaining Metro stores which won't be rebranded into Express stores, will instead be rebranded into Tesco Superstores instead.
