English Teacher

An outstanding Ofsted rated secondary school in Hillingdon are currently looking for an English Teacher.

The school are looking for someone who can start in January 2025 and commit until July 2025 with the possibility of continuing in the next academic year or transferring permanently.

This position is full time, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

Salary will match inner London MPS/UPS.

English Teacher is expected to:

  • be able to deliver highly focused lesson design with sharp learning objectives
  • have excellent ICT skills
  • help students develop confident writing skills for literature and work on their critical thinking skills
  • be able to work with students to build on and extend the foundation learning levels
  • enhance students' reading, speaking and debating skills
  • provide regular feedback to students on both written as well as spoken English and assess public speaking

The impact of the school's ambitious English Curriculum is to support all students from primary through to KS3, GCSE, A Level and beyond. The skills students learn in English prepare them for both their exams and their wider life experiences (and beyond English to all other areas of the curriculum) which is why the school place such a focus on literacy and oracy.

Qualifications and Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A relevant degree
  • Proven experience teaching English
  • Excellent subject knowledge with the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
