Art and Design Technician - Full Time - Mainstream Secondary School - Ealing - Permanent Contract - September start

I am seeking a dedicated and organized Art and Design Technician to support the Art and Design department at a mainstream secondary school in Ealing. The successful candidate will assist in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and supporting students and teachers during practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and Maintenance:

    • Prepare materials and equipment for Art and Design lessons.
    • Maintain and organize the Art and Design studios, ensuring a safe and clean environment.
    • Monitor and order supplies, ensuring that all materials are stocked and available for use.
  • Technical Support:

    • Assist teachers and students during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance.
    • Set up and dismantle equipment for lessons, demonstrations, and exhibitions.
    • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and report any issues or repairs needed.
  • Student Assistance:

    • Support students with the use of materials and equipment during lessons.
    • Provide guidance and assistance to students working on projects and assignments.
    • Help students understand safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Keep accurate records of inventory, orders, and maintenance.
    • Assist with the organization and display of student artwork for exhibitions and school events.
    • Support the department with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Health and Safety:

    • Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed in the Art and Design studios.
    • Conduct regular safety checks and maintain up-to-date records.
    • Provide safety inductions and training to students and staff as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or a background in Art and Design.
  • Knowledge of various art materials, techniques, and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
