The first national Party Election Broadcast for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) since the 1980s will be broadcast later today (Tuesday 18 June).
Led William Clouston, the SDP's election broadcast will air on BBC One at 10:50pm and ITV at 10:40pm.
The party says its major theme is finding a voice for the millions of people who find themselves politically homeless. It will highlight some common aspirations of voters including affordable housing, decent publicly run utilities and a secure national border.
Commenting on the election broadcast, Clouston says: "So many fellow citizens feel ignored and patronised by the establishment political class.
"We wanted to produce a film which explored this and which had a little humour in it.
"The big message is that there is a party which shares the sensible majority public view on things like immigration and housing – it's the SDP.
"Basically, that's why the SDP is here – to give the public something decent to vote for."

Stephen Balogh, the SDP's parliamentary candidate for Ealing Central and Acton, adds: "Local voters are telling me they see signs of community fracture everywhere, with edginess in public spaces and a loss of the social contact that bound us all together.
"And they are unimpressed by Labour's poor record on crime in London and fed up with the Conservatives across the board.
"For the many who have been made politically homeless by the big parties, the SDP's policies for improving everyday life are hitting the mark."
After its initial airing, the SDP's election broadcast will be available for playback on BBC, ITV and other broadcasters.
If elected, the SDP promise to end mass migration, nationalise the railways and energy services and build 100,000 affordable homes per year through the British Housing Corporation (BHC).
