St Benedict's School in Ealing is celebrating another year of outstanding A-level results, continuing a strong tradition of sustained academic excellence.

The 2025 cohort has once again demonstrated the high standards, ambition, and resilience that are hallmarks of a St Benedict's education.

This year, almost half of all A-level grades (49%) were A or A*, with an impressive 83% at A*, A or B — reflecting the hard work, resilience, and high aspirations of the students.

As always, the academic diversity and ambition of St Benedict's leavers are reflected in the broad range of university courses they will go on to study, including Medicine, Dentistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Classics, Social Sciences, and Psychology.

With the vast majority of students achieving their first-choice university offers, a significant proportion are taking up places at prestigious institutions, ranging from the University of Oxford to top Russell Group universities including Imperial College London, UCL, LSE, Durham, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh and Bath.

This year, the school is also especially proud to report that 100% of students who applied for Medicine and Dentistry were accepted into top universities: Sheffield, Cardiff, and Southampton.

Ten students achieved straight A grades and above with several individual success stories standing out:

  • Mia V achieved a remarkable A*A*A*A* and will study Physics at the University of Bristol
  • Callum McG gained A*A*A*A and will study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester
  • Helena R also gained A*A*A*A to study Classics at the University of Oxford along with the incredible accolade of being awarded an organ scholarship
  • Artie H also achieved A*A*A*A and will pursue further studies in Biochemistry at Imperial
  • Alice M and Diego A both achieved A*A*A* and will go on to study Psychology at Bath and UCL respectively
  • Alfie L gained A*A*A to study Social Sciences at Durham
  • Nancy M also achieved A*A*A and will study Biology at Leeds

Speaking about her results this morning Helena R said: "I am very excited to be going to Jesus College, Oxford to read Classics as an Organ Scholar. Particular thanks to the Music and Classics departments who have helped me immensely."

Nancy M added: "I'm very pleased with my results and would like to thank all my teachers for their guidance and support throughout my 15 years at St Benedict's!"

Headmaster Joe Smith praised the students saying: "I am incredibly proud of our 2025 leavers for achieving such outstanding A-level results this year.

"To see nearly half of the grades at A* or A, and over 80% at A*, A or B, is testament to their determination and academic ambition.

"These results reflect not only the hard work and resilience shown by our leavers, but also the generosity, integrity, and spirit they have brought to every aspect of school life.

"This year group has given a great deal to St Benedict's, far beyond their academic achievements.

"They have contributed to our community through service, leadership, and kindness, living out the values at the heart of our Benedictine tradition.

"My thanks go to our dedicated teachers and all colleagues who have supported and encouraged our students throughout their time at St Benedict's. I am also grateful to families for the unwavering support they have given their daughters and sons.

"This is a wonderful day for our school community and a moment to celebrate everything our students have achieved and given."

Fiona Allen, Deputy Head - Academic also commented: "It has been a tremendous privilege to work alongside this exceptional cohort of students.

"In a year where national data shows it has become increasingly challenging to secure the highest grades, our students have demonstrated remarkable resilience and academic excellence.

"What makes me particularly proud is witnessing their development into confident, thoughtful young people with a strong moral fibre.

"These achievements reflect years of perseverance, and just as we have benefited enormously from their positive influence and contributions, I am confident that society will be enriched by the meaningful impact they will make in their chosen fields and beyond."

Alex Heald, Director of Sixth Form, added: "It has been a real privilege to work with this exceptional group of students.

"Their academic achievements are outstanding, but just as important has been their commitment to supporting each other, contributing to school life, and growing as confident, thoughtful young adults.

"These results reflect years of hard work and the strength of relationships built across our Sixth Form community. I have no doubt that they will go on to make a positive impact in whatever field they choose."

As St Benedict's celebrates another year of academic excellence, the school remains committed to nurturing not just high achievement, but the character, curiosity and compassion that define a truly holistic education.
