The prime minister confirmed locals will head to the polls on Thursday 4 July, and said: "Now is the moment for Britain to choose its future."

Reacting to Rishi Sunak calling a general election, Nada Jarche, Ealing Central & Acton Parliamentary Candidate for the Workers Party of Britain said: "As the Ealing Central and Acton Workers Party candidate, I welcome the announcement of a General Election on July 4, 2024.

"This election presents an opportunity for the people of Ealing Central and Acton to voice their opinions and elect representatives who truly reflect their values and priorities."

She added: "I am committed to standing up for the rights and interests of working-class people in our community.

"The current government has failed to address critical issues such as affordable housing, rising living expenses, and anti-social behaviour.

"The NHS is struggling, and our public services are being systematically dismantled. I will fight for a very different kind of politics, focusing on: 1. Fair Pay and Decent Working Conditions: Ensuring workers receive fair compensation and safe working environments. 2. Affordable Housing: Demanding action to make housing more accessible and affordable for everyone. 3. Social Justice: Addressing the concerns of residents and promoting equality and justice in our community.

"The people of Ealing Central and Acton deserve a representative who prioritises their needs and works tirelessly to improve their quality of life. That's why I'm running for this election."

Alastair Mitton, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Ealing Central & Acton said: "Liberal Democrats say that at long last Rishi Sunak has called a General Election.

"July 4th will be the day when voters in Ealing can vote Liberal Democrat as both the Conservatives and Labour do not deserve to win.

"They are just trotting out tired, old, failed ideas. I shall be spending every waking day making the case for a new liberal approach including better access to doctors and dentists as well as making Ealing safer.

"Only the Liberal Democrats have the vision to deliver fresh ideas that combine economic competence with social compassion such as the need for an improved social care system.

"My phone hasn't stopped with calls from people eager to join the campaign to change our country for the better."

Dr Rupa Huq, the ex Labour MP for Ealing Central and Acton said: "I'm proud to be standing to be re-elected for the fourth time as Labour's Member of Parliament for Ealing Central and Acton, the best job in the world which I've been proud to do since first being elected back in 2015.

"I am a local of over 50 years standing; Hammersmith born, Ealing raised and schooled who's raising now my own young family here.

"I would be honoured to have the support of Ealing Nub News readers on 4 July in order to serve as part of the transformational government this country so badly needs to restore our reputation and fortunes after years of Tory chaos.

"I look forward to speaking to as many local people as I can over for the next few weeks and to campaign for the change that our community, and indeed the country, so badly needs."

Standing as an independent, Julie Carter said: "I believe the way of the future is voting for the person not the party. There is too much bickering and infighting within most parties along with power plays.

"In my view, independent elected officials are quite capable of representing their constituents as well if not better than a party member, I am more than qualified to undertake the post of Member of Parliament for the constituents of Ealing Central & Acton, and look forward to doing so."

The Conservatives, Reform UK, Social Democratic Party and Green Party have been approached for comment.
