Ealing: Last day to register to vote for general election 2024
The UK general election will be taking place on Thursday, 4 July 2024 and the deadline to register to vote looms.
You must register to vote; the deadline is midnight Tuesday, 18 June.
Polling stations are open for voting between 7am to 10pm, and all voters will need to take an approved form of photo identification with them when voting.
Some examples of approved photo identification are:
- Passport issued by the UK, any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, a British Overseas Territory, an EEA state, or a Commonwealth Country
- Driving licence issued by the UK, any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or an EEA state.
- Biometric immigration document
If you do not have an approved form of photo ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline for that application is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
An alternative way to vote is by post or proxy.
To vote by post, you must register by Wednesday 19 June at 5pm. You will need your date of birth, a copy of your signature and your National Insurance number.
If you vote by post, you will not be affected by voter ID and will be issued with ballot papers as usual.
To vote by proxy, the deadline is Wednesday 19 June at 5pm.
Voters can only act as proxy for two people, and anyone who is voting on behalf of UK voters living abroad can act as a proxy for up to four people.
