In the upcoming Cabinet meeting (6 December), members will recommend to shut the once described by its residents as "hellish", Marston Court and Meath Court.

After considering various options, the Cabinet intends to push an exit of the lease agreement for the units and return the temporary homes back to QED.

QED Sustainable Urban Developments is the company that created the combined 94 homes in Marston Court and Meath Court.

The modular units were leased to the council by QED in 2016 and opened in 2017.

Other options considered by Ealing Council included: Leaving the homes as is, vacating the units and re-purposing the homes.

In the report for the Cabinet meeting, it says: "The proposal is to take forward Option IV (exit the lease agreement early and return the units).

"If this is not possible because the council is unable to reach agreement with QED, it is recommended that the council pursues Option III (re-purpose the units), if the latter is viable and there is sufficient interest.

"It is proposed that the Strategic Director Housing and Environment is authorised to stop the use of the units at Marston Court as temporary accommodation and authorised to negotiate the early surrender of the lease or to utilise the units for a different purpose."

This comes as relocation for residents of the two estates have already begun, with the council pledging completion by the end of the year or early 2024.

Meath Court estate in Hope Gardens is considered by residents to be an estate filled with negligence, lawlessness, and violence.
