Berkeley Brass present a short early evening recital featuring a wide array of genres, from the entry of Queen Polymnia from Rameau's masterpiece Les Boréades, Debussy's Suite Bergamasque (known for its famous 3rd movement Clair de lune), to the Land of Oz, in Arlen's Somewhere Over the Rainbow. The recital concludes with Gershwin's masterpiece Porgy and Bess, in a brand-new arrangement which includes the ever-popular Summertime, I Got Plenty o' Nuttin, Bess You Is My Woman Now and It Ain't Necessarily So.
Berkeley Brass is a dynamic seven-piece ensemble consisting of some of the brightest emerging brass talent in the UK. Formed in 2021 by students at the Royal Academy of Music in London, members of the group have performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Ulster Orchestra, The Hallé, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, La Musica Nuova, London Musical Theatre Orchestra, orchestra of the 101 Dalmatians UK tour and the London Concert Orchestra. Berkeley Brass won second place in the 2022 Worshipful Company of Musicians Brass Ensemble Prize, and received a commission from the Sainsbury family to arrange and record A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Concert starts 6pm (doors open at 5.30pm) and lasts for 1 hour.
