Work 'well underway' at new Lidl Brentford store
Lidl say it has made 'significant progress' on its new store on Brentford High Street, with internal fit-out works well underway following planning permission being granted by Hounslow Council in October 2024.
The store, featuring a sales area of 1,439m², will include Lidl's popular in-store bakery and Middle of Lidl isle, customer toilets with baby changing facilities and parking spaces for cars and bicycles.
This multi-million-pound project is set to deliver 'more than just affordable, high-quality shopping' to the residents of Brentford, the German supermarket chain explain.
The store will boost the local economy by creating over 40 new jobs, with new starters earning one of the highest wages in the sector.
After being named the third biggest supermarket in London last year, the development of its Brentford store is part of Lidl's broader growth across the capital.
The discounter has opened six brand-new stores this month alone, including beginning construction at its new West Ealing store back in October 2024
Grant Shulton, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, commented: "We're thrilled to see work progressing on our new Brentford store following the planning permission being granted in October.
"There's clear demand for an affordable, high-quality food store in the area, and we're excited to bring this much-needed option to the community.
"With work on track, we're looking forward to opening before the end of 2025 and will continue to keep residents updated on the project."
Progress on works at the Brentford site come as Lidl celebrates its 30th anniversary in Great Britain.
With more customers choosing to shop at Lidl, the discounter has consistently been named the fastest growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket for over a year.
