Lidl has announced that it will commencing construction for its new West Ealing store set to open in early 2025.

Located just opposite its existing store, on the site of the former Poundland and Wilko, the new store will be 300% bigger than the current one.

The German grocer giant says through a significant multi-million-pound investment, extensive fit out works aim to "completely transform the existing site to provide the local community with an enhanced shopping experience, including a bigger choice of Lidl products".

Lidl's current West Ealing store will remain open for business throughout the construction period, so customers can continue to access "Lidl's high-quality produce at best value prices".

Grant Shulton, Lidl GB's Regional Head of Property, commented: "It's full steam ahead with the fit out works for our new store in West Ealing, and we're optimistic that we'll have the new store open for shoppers in early 2025.

"This significant upgrade reflects our ambition to expand and enhance our offering to customers across the capital, ensuring that whatever their postcode, they have convenient access to the best products at the lowest possible prices."

The announcement comes as Lidl celebrates its 30th anniversary and continued growth, with 2023 being the year it overtook Asda to become the third-largest supermarket.

Earlier this year, Lidl revealed that it had plans for a new store in nearby Brentford, High Street after completing the lease for the site previously occupied by Morrisons.

Building on this momentum, Lidl recently revealed "wish list" of additional locations for new stores in London, from Camden to Clapham and Shoreditch to Notting Hill.

This follows plans to open hundreds of new stores across the country, including locations in Hoxton and Canning Town, the company reveals.
