University of West London in Ealing welcomes leading campaigner to discuss justice in education

THE University of West London (UWL) based in Ealing will welcome renowned equality rights campaigner, Professor Gus John, who will hold a virtual talk exploring the possibilities for a socially and racially just future in education.

Furthering his efforts to tackle injustice nationally, Professor Augustine 'Gus' John will set out the focus and policy changes needed in schools and colleges.

Professor John - named one of the 30 Most Influential Contemporary African Diaspora Leaders globally - has dedicated his career to education policy and contributed to the role of schooling and education in promoting social justice and school improvement.

The virtual talk, titled 'The Challenge of Educating for a Future Britain', will also include a student perspective by writer and broadcast journalist, Nomusa Okorie.

Professor Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWL, said: "We are pleased to welcome Professor John to share his valuable insight and expertise with students and our wider community.

"This work is incredibly important in ensuring fair access to education and tackling injustice - something which we are committed to here at UWL as we work to boost social mobility and open up higher education to all."

The event will run on Wednesday, March 10, from 4-5:30pm.
