TWO people have been jailed following an attack with a hot iron in Ealing.
Jermaine Lewis, 26 of no fixed abode and Deborah Edwards, 54, of Kirchen Road, West Ealing were found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on December 21 2020, after pleading not guilty to false imprisonment and attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Lewis and Edwards were sentenced to seven and five years imprisonment respectively.
The court heard that on October 14 2019, police were called in the early hours of the morning to Kirchen Road by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) after reports of an assault.
The victim, a man in his 40's, had attended a nearby address, where he was held down and had a hot iron place on his face.
It was believed that this was set up by Edwards after a previous encounter with the victim and she had sought the assistance of Lewis and another male.
Edwards was arrested at the venue, with Lewis arrested a day later.
The utensils used in the assault were identified and located by officers and upon forensic examination, the victim's DNA was found.
The matter was sent to trial at Isleworth Crown Court, where the victim gave evidence and along with the evidence found at the scene was sufficient for the jury to find Edwards and Lewis guilty.
An officer from West Area CID said: "This was a strong case presented to the court, due to the victim providing a statement of this horrific assault.
"He was also able to give a detailed account about the items used in the assault, which were secured by our scene of crime officers.
"Both their sentences, demonstrates how seriously the assault on the victim was regarded."
