By Hannah Davenport 14th Sep 2021

THE Mayor of Ealing attended the 23rd anniversary celebration of a Nepalese restaurant in Hanwell last Wednesday.

Councillor Munir Ahmed, along with the restaurants loyal customers, attended the event at Nepal Restaurant on Boston Parade, which opened in 1986.

Mayor Ahmed said at the event: "We are very proud of Nepal Restaurant and how far it has come over the years.

"Nepal Restaurant has evolved from the traditional curry house to what it is now, serving authentic Nepalese and Indian food for different generations.

"This kind of business makes our community rich and proud."

He added: "It has been very supportive to the local community during the pandemic, staying strong and open, delivering food when most of the restaurants in the locality were closed."

Like most businesses, the restaurant experienced a hit due to the effects of Covid-19 and restaurant owner Ojesh Singh took the opportunity to thank their loyal customers during this period.

Singh said: "We have come a long way to where we are, however, during the pandemic we never thought we could get back to where we were.

"With the support from all members of the community, our local clientele, we survived the worst and kept this small business going.

"All the credit goes to the local community, friends and family."

Singh also thanked the hardworking staff who he praised for their bravery in coming to work during the pandemic.

Managing partner, Dipendra Karki, highlighted the history of the restaurant and remembered growing up in the area and seeing the venue change.

He said: "This restaurant has employed some of the best curry chefs Britain has seen.

"Many people who come into the restaurant now have been coming since it opening and this restaurant has so many memories and history.

"We have been able to come this far, fighting and surviving, because of all the love and support of the local community."
