London boroughs with safest chicken shops by hygiene: Where does Ealing rank?

By Dimitris Kouimtsidis 26th Aug 2021

A STUDY that compiles the Food Standards Authority (FSA) hygiene ratings of registered chicken shops in each London borough shows Ealing's standards of takeaways.

The interactive map gives each borough a 'risk-o-meter' score based on the average hygiene rating of registered chicken shops in that area.

Ealing is sitting somewhere in the middle of the Capital's boroughs, with a 'risk-o-meter' of 46%.

The average hygiene rating calculated was 2.7 out of 5.

Fiona Sinclair, director at STS Food Safety and contributor to map said: "The beauty of this system is that food businesses which are not up to scratch have nowhere to hide.

"The information is public for all to see and bad practices can no longer be kept behind closed doors, especially in these days of social media.

"There is nowhere for a food business to hide if they are given a failing score."

Elsewhere across the city, Havering has one of the best scores with an average hygiene rating of 4.5 out of 5.
