TODAY (April 6) is your last chance to donate to Hanwell Town's support fund.

The local football team which plays in the Isthmian Division, is fundraising for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

The crowdfunding campaign was set up last month, with an initial goal of £1,500, but they have managed to raise more than double that, with over £3,100 donated so far, with donations still being accepted until 5pm today.

With the money raised, the 'Geordies' - as they're affectionately named - plan to improve on current facilities, improving disability access and creating new spaces for matchdays, but also for wider community use.

Hanwell Town FC was founded in the 1920s by a bunch of Geordies who were working on the nearby railway and they've been nicknamed the 'Geordies' as a result.

The club recently appeared on BBC Look North East and Cumbria and has now gained lots of new followers from Newcastle.

Head of Marketing, Elsa Jones, told Nub News: "Since appearing on BBC Look North East and Cumbria at the end of March things have gone crazy.

"We've had so many donations from Newcastle fans and so many merchandise orders, we had 60 orders over the last weekend alone (March 27-28) and 45 of those were going to Newcastle.

"They've helped us so much with the crowdfunding as well, it's been fantastic."

The fundraiser is part of the Mayor of London's £1million Pay It Forward campaign and offers up to £5,000 in match funding.
