EALING has seen an increase of over 39% of new cases in the latest COVID-19 figures that were released.

This comes as Boris Johnson announced a new national lockdown that will last until at least mid-February.

In the week of December 21 to 27, Ealing saw 2,508 new positive cases, compared to 1,794 the week before .

That figure represents an increase of 39.8%, with 714 more new cases.

That means there was also an increase in the number of new cases per 100,000 residents, with 733.8, compared to 524.9 the week before.

Those figures continue to be lower than the average across London, but higher than the average across England.

London as a whole had 77,353 new cases during the week of December 21 to 27, which represents 863.2 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

England saw 241,036 new cases during the same week, correlating to 426.6 cases per 100,000 people.
