Death of Queen Elizabeth II

The passing of her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II was announced by Buckingham Palace yesterday evening.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away, aged 96, at the Balmoral estate in Scotland where she has been staying over the summer.

During the afternoon members of her close family, including her grandson William, Duke of Cambridge; sons Andrew, Duke of York and Edward, Earl of Wessex (and his wife Countess Sophie), arrived at the castle in Aberdeenshire. The four travelled together in a vehicle driven by William. Her grandson, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, was reported to be travelling to Balmoral alone. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, together with Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, were already at Balmoral.

The joy of the long distance runner - Runfest this weekend

The parks, paths and riverside will echo to the feet of thousands this weekend for the annual Runfest.

The celebration of running and fitness consists of six different distanced events, with 10,000 runners, a music stage, food and a fitness expo.

The event attracts elite athletes, beginners, including children, and seasoned marathoners, such as Gina Little, aged 77, from Greenwich, who aims to complete here 600th marathon.

The focus of the events will be the beautiful settings of Kew Gardens and Old Deer Park.

The Saturday events include the Richmond AIR 10K, which offers runners an amazing performance enhancing musical tour guide, completely within the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Prince Charles' beloved Aston Martin stars in exhibition of rarest cars from around the world at Hampton Court Palace

Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September saw Hampton Court Palace play host to the 2022 Concours of Elegance which brought together a selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world. 

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the luxurious show included a range of Britain's most glamorous marque of all, the Aston Martin, which featured HRH Prince Charles' personal DB6 Volante.

Ealing MP doubtful Liz Truss has the 'metal' to deal with cost of living crisis and pledges to hold her to account every step of the way

Ealing MP Rupa Huq has questioned whether the new prime minister Liz Truss has the 'metal' required to deal with the current cost of living crisis, pledging to her constituents that she will hold the Tory leader to account every step of the way. 

After weeks of ill-tempered debate, the foreign secretary defeated Rishi Sunak with 57% of the votes to his 43%. 

The announcement triggers the start of a handover from Boris Johnson, who was forced to announce his resignation in July after a string of scandals that saw support for his administration fade away. 

Warning over door-to-door conman

A warning has been issued about a serial door-to-door conman.

Darren Bingham, who has a string of convictions and anti social behaviour orders against his name, has been targeting residents in St Margarets.
