Ealing Council have launched a consultation over bringing in a controlled parking scheme in the Brentside area to prioritise parking for residents.

Controlled parking zones prioritise parking for residents and local businesses during the operating hours and also help to ease congestion and ensuring vehicles are parked responsibly.

Ealing Council are looking to create a controlled parking zone in an area between Bridge Avenue and Copley Close and depending on the outcome of the consultation some or all of the area might become one.

A statement from the Council said: "The council have received various parking complaints from residents and Ward Councillors, regarding an increase in parking issues in your area.

"Parking controls have been introduced in Poets Corner and this has led to some parking being displaced as motorists seek the nearest available free parking.

"We are also aware of some long-standing parking issues across the wider area. Roads such as Elmbank Way and Brookbank Avenue are susceptible to parking displaced from those attending local schools.

"In view of this, we believe the area would benefit from controlled parking and we are seeking your views to see whether you would like controlled parking introduced in your street.

"Whether you drive, walk, cycle or use public transport, we would like to hear your views."

This consultation will help to inform the decision taken by Ealing Council, but it will also be based upon other factors like road safety, traffic flow, and the environmental impact of parking and traffic.

Controlled parking zones are implemented for a minimum of four hours per day, this can be a longer period if it will lead to a more effective enforcement.

Parking permits for residents will be based upon CO2 emissions by vehicles, based upon figures from the DVLA, and permit costs range from £50 in band one to £125 in band four.
