Ealing Council has announced the Southall Reset programme for Southall town centre and its neighbouring communities, following a meeting with the council's cabinet last week.
The Southall Reset programme, outlined for the next four years, will be focused on tackling deep-rooted challenges specific to Southall to support residents and businesses.
It also focuses on active travel, with a renewed focus on walking and cycling schemes in the area, as well bringing employment back to the town hit hard by furlough and job losses during the pandemic.
Council leader Peter Mason, said: "Residents have told us what needs to change and we are listening.
"Southall is a place of incredible history and sense of cultural pride. It has so much to offer. But times have been difficult for the community over the past few years. The pandemic has been tough, with residents in Southall having had the highest rate of furlough in the country. And now the cost of living crisis is hitting the community hard.
"There has been residential investment in the area, but we know that this has brought challenges too.
"We'll be working with the community to improve the area for those living and working here, with ambitions to build on Southall's vibrant local economy and its reputation as a destination for visitors."
Earlier this month the council signed the lease to create a business hub at Southall Manor House and on Monday unveiled seven state-of-the-art outdoor gyms
The council also wants to support, encourage, and enable the community to take a lead on projects to change for the better parts of the town and also influence future development and investment in Southall.
In the coming months the council will be creating a community forum, which will allow residents and businesses to help shape the area.
