Ealing Broadway has announced Ealing Food Bank and Young Ealing Foundation as the latest charity partners to be supported by its Giving Box.

The centre's Giving Box – located outside Tesco – was launched in 2020 as a way to support local charities through donations made by the community throughout the year.

Donations can be easily made by using a contactless payment to donate £3, £5, or £10, with funds raised being donated directly to the charity partners.

Founded in 2013, Ealing Foodbank is a local charity who provide up to three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people.

In 2022, 39,593 people accessed the food bank's service for food and advice. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Developed in response to the ongoing challenges facing the Children and Young People's sector, the Young Ealing Foundation (YEF) is an independent charity and membership organisation, which connects and equips grassroots youth charities, supporters and decision makers.

YEF provides expert advice and strategic support to help each member charity achieve sustainability, and their 70 members reach more than 60,000 children and young people in the London Borough of Ealing every year.

Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway, said:

"Thanks to our generous local community, our Giving Boxes have been able to provide support to four charities to date in their essential work, and we're thrilled to continue this support moving forwards for Ealing Food Bank and Young Ealing Foundation.

"We are always amazed by the generosity of our visitors, and we express our heartfelt gratitude for their help. The contributions they make will be crucial in enabling these charities to sustain their incredible efforts and assist those in our local communities who require it the most."
