Why become a homestay host? Ealing school offers the opportunity to make lifelong friends and earning money

By Nub News Reporter

THE West London English School in Ealing a private, family-run, British Council accredited school, aiming to offer the opportunity to enjoy a unique language learning experience in a relaxed, friendly and warm environment.
It offers the highest quality courses at affordable prices with a longstanding reputation for excellent standards of teaching.
And in this feature the school also turns the spotlight on how local residents can engage with students and generate additional revenue.

------------------------

Every year, thousands of international students come to the UK to learn English and experience our country's rich and diverse culture.

Being a language school in the heart of Ealing, we at West London English School are very lucky to teach and inspire these students in our classrooms.

Since 2015, we have opened our doors to students from all around the world who want to learn English, establishing ourselves as one of the most accessible language schools in London.

Alongside our outstanding language courses, we also arrange for students to stay with hosts in Ealing, Acton, Hanwell and Greenford.

This enriching exchange is beneficial for student and host alike, with the opportunity to make lifelong friends and earning money while doing so.

As more and more students come to our school, we are eager to recruit more hosts to continue offering this extraordinary experience.

Staying with a host gives international students a unique look into what living in the UK is really like, and gives you the opportunity to show them why London is one of the best cities in the world.

Building friendships.

Through our detailed process, we ensure we match students with hosts who are well suited to each other. Throughout the years, we've had all sorts of hosts, including families taking in junior students (12-16) and single occupants offering their spare rooms to adults. Whether you want to host for 1 week or 1 month, there is no commitment on how long you need to host for – any length of time is welcome and hosting is open to anyone.

"I am delighted to be able to host students as I find the experience very rewarding and satisfying and have come to realise that regardless of culture, age or background, everybody benefits from a warm and comfortable home environment which I'm always happy to provide". - Donna (Homestay host, Ealing)

Welcoming an international student into your home opens the door to sharing cultural knowledge, like stories and recipes, and experiences. Year after year, we receive testimonials from hosts and students saying how much they've learnt from one another.

"When I came to London last year, I stayed with my family and we spoke French and did things that we would do if I was in France. Staying with a host family has been a totally immersive experience for me. I have enjoyed being part of an English family, speaking English all the time, being introduced to new food, finding out more about English culture and experiencing things I would not have had an opportunity to try if I wasn't staying with my host family". - Romain (a student from France)

Students take these experiences back to their countries, and consequently this leads to more students coming to the UK to learn from us. On top of the connections you can make, there are also financial benefits to hosting. We offer rates of up to £250 for hosts. By letting an international student stay close to our school, you're also supporting the local economy.

Young people benefit from the opportunity to live with local families.

In order to match you with the most suitable student possible, we'll ask you a few questions about your availability, whether you want to host an adult or a junior, and what type of property you own. We want our students and hosts to have the best experiences possible, so it's important to consider the safety and suitability of your property:

·      Are you able to provide a welcoming and warm environment?

·      Is there enough room for another person to live comfortably with you?

·      How often will you be at home?

·      Can you commit to hosting for a length of time?

In order to maintain our high standards and satisfaction rate, and to meet requirements from British Council, our main accrediting body, we inspect all host properties and meet with homestay hosts. This includes assessing the size of the property, its location, including the local area and accessibility to the school, as well as the general atmosphere within the home. If you want to host juniors, our inspection will also include asking for an up-to-date DBS check, to give families the reassurance their children are in safe hands.

If you're interested in hosting and taking the first steps towards learning and sharing unforgettable experiences, please get in touch.
