A WOMAN has died following a house fire in Greenford, which 'destroyed' the second floor of a house.

On Monday (March 15), around 40 firefighters and six fire engines were called to a house fire on Mary Peters Drive at 11:22am.

Crews from Ealing, Northolt, Southall, Park Royal and Harrow fire stations attended the scene and had the flames under control by 3pm.

The second floor of the mid-terraced house was completely destroyed, while parts of the ground and first floors were also damaged by the blaze.

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the London Fire Brigade and the Met Police.
