Thursday: Talk by the curator of Dappled Light

The curator of Dappled Light Dr Cliff Lauson will on Thursday introduce the extraordinary exhibition of works by Rana Begum currently on display at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery in Ealing.

Formerly Senior Curator at the Hayward Gallery and Assistant Curator at Tate Modern, Dr Lauson is now the Director of Exhibitions at Somerset House.

The event begins at 6.30pm and tickets cost £10, with a glass of wine included in the price.

Thursday: Dead Boy Café

See the world première of a captivating new play, and the winner of The Questors 2019 Student Playwriting Competition.

Janet and Ruby run a chippie on the border of Northern Ireland. Ruby is blind, yet knows the cafe better than anyone. Janet hasn't stepped outside the door in 15 years and is grappling with her sanity. The two women are locked in a love-hate relationship, but bound together by the person they both loved the most.

One desperately stormy night a strange young man arrives at the café, drenched to the bone. Just who is he, and what will his presence mean for Janet? Is she really seeing him for who he is? And can the blind Ruby see more than them all?

A gripping, complex and darkly comic play exploring secrets, grief, and the ghosts that follow us.

Friday: Axis Mvndi Launch Event

Join Watermans for the launch event of its new exhibition, Axis Mvndi: Cosmic Radio Sculptures.

Axis Mvndi is a device that sends radio waves in space in order to draw shapes at a cosmic scale. By playing on the movement of a dish antenna, ancient cosmological models are materialized into space and become autonomous shapes in infinite movement.

No need to book, just turn up for a first look at the exhibition and to talk with the artists.

All info here.

Saturday: FoxMarketW7 – Makers and Vintage Market

Saturday: Drayton Manor Car Boot Sale

Head to Drayton Manor High School on Greenford Avenue for a volunteer-led car boot sale.

Gates open at 6.30am for sellers and 7am for buyers.

Saturday: Apologia

After The Questors Theatre made the difficult decision to postpone their production of Alexi Kaye Campbell's critically acclaimed hit play, Saturday is the final chance to see it.

This unflinching contemporary play invites us into the home of Kristin, a revered art historian and impassioned political activist of the 1960s. But in her effort for a more humane society, she neglected the two individuals who most needed her love. On her birthday, she is finally reunited with her two sons. And now, they want answers…

Written by multi-award-winning playwright Alexi Kaye Campbell and directed by Meneka Das (acclaimed actor/director), Apologia is a passionate, pertinent and witty play exploring the conflict between fame and family.
