WHAT are some hidden gems in Ealing?
This is the question we asked Ealing residents online recently because Nub News wants to hear what you think.
There's plenty to be down about at the moment, so we decided to appreciate things we can enjoy now and look forward to what we can enjoy once lockdown ends.
We received comments from local people giving their thoughts on the best hidden gems in and around town.
Here's what you had to say…
Ealing Broadway
In the heart of Ealing lies Ealing Broadway, where some of the hidden gems are located, namely Japanese patisserie WA Cafe and Italian pizzeria, Coda di Volpe.
Pitshanger Lane
Victoria Williams mentioned Pitshanger Lane as the perfect hidden gem, full of its independent shops, ideal both for shopping but also for walking.
Pitshanger Lane is located just north of Ealing Broadway and offers a 'village-like' feel to those who walk through it.
Many comments then proceeded to list their favourite shops on the lane, such as West Kebab, Charlie's Fruit Bowl and Pitshanger Bakery.
Geraldine Ronan even went a step further and urged people to buy smoked garlic from Charlie's Fruit Bowl on Pitshanger Lane and to rub it on steak from Hook and Cleaver based on South Ealing Road in South Ealing.
South Ealing Road
If you head north along South Ealing Road for about five minutes, you'll find Tetote Factory, a Japanese bakery suggested by Vanessa King.
Two minutes down the road from Hook and Cleaver however, in the opposite direction to Tetote Factory, you'll find Lotus House Fish & Chips, suggested by Jamie Cameron.
An additional two minutes down the road, you'll find Monty's, a Nepalese restaurant recommended by Ellinor FitzGibbon.
St Mary's Road
Another of Ealing's most popular roads for hidden gems is St Mary's Road located between Ealing Broadway and South Ealing.
One of the most popular suggestions on St Mary's Road is independent wine bar and deli, Pulp.
One minute walk away from Pulp, you'll find the Red Lion pub and then a minute further along is the Walpole, 'offering big breakfasts and hearty lunches, becoming a bistro on Friday and Saturday nights'.
At the very top of St Mary's Road, right where it meets the Broadway, you can find Crispin's Wine Bar, which according to Christina Bates "has got to be the oldest independently owned drinking establishment in Ealing."
In one of the side streets off St Mary's Road you can eat at Tandoori Villa, which Robbie Gaston described as 'like having dinner in someone's front room'.
Ealing Common
On the other side of Ealing, near Ealing Common tube station, you can also find a selection of recommended hidden gems, including Mo's Fisheries restaurant, Ealing Butchers & Charcuterie, Japanese grocer's Natural Natural, along with fellow Japanese restaurant Ta Ke Sushi.
Inside Ealing Common tube station, you can even find Meletius Coffee shop , perfect when you're on your commute into Central London – once things return back to normal.
Behind the open green space of Ealing Common park, you can find the Grange pub, conveniently located on the corner of Warwick Road with The Common.
West Ealing
Finally, two hidden gems from West Ealing were also suggested, Pakistani and Indian restaurant Taste of Lahore and florist, Jeff's Flowers.
As you can see Ealing is full of hidden gems and once the pandemic is over, we should all make the most of what we have located on our doorstep.
