A NUMBER of roads in Southall are closed off this morning, following a police incident yesterday afternoon with an armed man.

Ealing Council tweeted earlier this morning: "Due to the police incident in Southall, traffic diversions will remain in place with The Broadway closed between Dane Road and Northcote Avenue.

"Saxon Road remains closed to all pedestrians and vehicles."

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to Saxon Road, Southall, at 14:12hrs on Thursday, January 21, to reports of a man with a firearm.

"Officers attended; the man has refused to come out of a property when asked.

"As a precaution, nearby roads have been closed."

It is unknown what the current state of affairs is surrounding the case, but the gravity of the situation has meant that several roads are still closed off, nearly 20 hours later.

More information will be posted once it becomes available.

This comes after police in Southall had to break up a 40-man brawl last weekend, which included swords and bottles.
