AFTER raising more than £35,000 to help students through the pandemic, a University of West London (UWL) fundraising effort is continuing into the new year to support those in need.

UWL launched its COVID-19 Response Appeal last summer to make sure anyone struggling financially or needing resources to study from home during lockdown was supported.

The generosity of the University community ended up exceeding expectations.

UWL was also gifted 22 laptops by global gaming company, SEGA, to be given to any students struggling to access suitable technology.

A graduate also reached out to donate bottles of hand sanitiser to help healthcare students stay safe during care duties.

As lockdown measures continue to hit many this month, Professor Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice Chancellor at UWL, said: "Ongoing COVID restrictions are having a huge impact on so many of our students, and to see such a tremendous response to this appeal from our colleagues, alumni, honorary members, friends, and partners has been inspiring.

"Not only has this incredible generosity helped so many of our students, but proved that when we come together, we can make a huge difference, ensuring that everyone in our University community has the resources they need as they build successful futures.
