Road closures on and around Southall Broadway which began yesterday will commence today at 4pm and later this week, on August 19.

Southall Broadway (A4020 Uxbridge Road) will be closed to all traffic and cars will not be permitted on its side roads.

Residents of the enclosed area who are able to provide valid identification or have a car registered at the relevant address will be given access via the side roads, for example Beaconsfield Road.

The decision to implement road closures was taken by the police and Ealing Council in the interest of public safety due to large numbers of people celebrating Independence Days.

India Independence Day today is a national holiday in India observed annually to commemorate the day India achieved independence from British rule. This year marks the 75th anniversary of India's independence.

Afghan Independence Day will be marked on Friday, August 19.

Road closures will be implemented at both ends of The Broadway, and at junctions with all access roads leading towards The Broadway including Beaconsfield Road, Shackleton Road, North Avenue and Carlyle Avenue.
