The RSPCA are requesting help from the public to find out how a dog was found dead in a canal in Greenford.
An English bull terrier named Sky was discovered on 13th March with a pair of barbell weights tied around her neck and it was reported to the RSPCA.
The dog was less than two years old and had been owned by a family in Wales, who were located using the chip they placed in the dog, who said they had sold the dog to a man in Southall.
The charity responsible for the protection of pets carried out an investigation into what had occurred but have been unable to figure out how the dog ended up being thrown into the canal and are now reaching out to the public to find out if any members of the public have any useful information.
RSPCA inspector Dale Grant said, "We don't know at this stage if she was dead prior to being thrown in the canal.
"She was microchipped, to an address in Wales, and her previous owners confirmed they sold her to a man in Southall.
"We spoke to the new owner who stated he gave her away before Christmas but was unable to give further details.
"She was only young, under two, and by all accounts a lovable family pet.
"I'd like to appeal for information with regards to Sky. If someone knows who Sky belonged to, I'd be grateful if they could get in touch with us.
"Sky was a distinctive-looking dog and someone must know something."
Anyone with information should contact the RSPCA's appeals line on 0300 123 8018, using reference 1040894.
