The Acton Depot for the London Transport Museum opens its doors to the public only three times a year to reveal a treasure trove of over 320,000 objects.

The working museum store will be opened once again from 23 - 26 September when visitors are invited to explore its hidden stock.

There are over 500,000 objects in the London Transport Museums collection, of which the majority are housed at the Depot rather than the Covent Garden Museum.

Amongst these mysterious items are; rare road and rail vehicles spanning over 100 years, signs, ceramic tiles, original posters, ephemera and ticket machines.

The Open Weekends typically take place in April, July and September and include talks, activities and tours that celebrate the large collection of urban transport.

Activities include, interactive storytelling for under 5s about the Depot's unique Milk van, and tours aimed at adults and older children with a keen interest in transport or design.

The guided tours take visitors behind the scenes at the working depot to discover historic road and rail vehicles and engineering equipment.

The Depot is also home to The London Transport Miniature Railway - a working miniature railway based on real London Underground locomotives, carriages, signals and signs.
