A man wanted in connection with a double murder was found by police near Ferrymead Avenue, Ealing, just before 6pm last night.

Officers are "confident" the man is 49-year-old Lee Peacock who was seen at North Wembley station the evening two people were killed in Westminster, on 19 August.

He was located on a canal barge with life-threatening injuries, believed to be self-inflicted.

Paramedics and the London Air Ambulance were called and the man was transported to hospital.

The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards was informed and the incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who have suggested an independent investigation will be carried out.

Sharon Pickles, 45, was pronounced dead at her home in Ashbridge Street, Westminster, on 19 August.

Clinton Ashmore, 59, was pronounced dead at a nearby address the next morning in what police were treating as a linked incident.

The Met said both had died from stab wounds to the neck and believed that Mr Peacock knew the victims.
