The Metropolitan Police have released a photo of a man they want to speak to in connection to an 82-year-old man being set on fire in West Ealing.

On 27th February, officers were called to Singapore Road in West Ealing at around 8pm after reports of a man having been set on fire.

The suspect and the 82-year-old were chatting for around five minutes as they left the West London Islamic Centre when the suspect poured liquid on the man and then lit it with a lighter.

Police have now released photos of a man they would like to speak to in connection with this incident.

Sergeant Steven Constable, said: "I know this will be a shocking event for the community, and we are continuing to investigate how it happened."

"As it is understood, there is a great concern for the residents after the incident, and the local officials were carrying out a rondo to the mosque daily.

"We continue to work with West London Islamic Centre who have greatly supported our investigations, handling our questions.

"An important part of this issue is the identification of the man who we have posted the picture.

"If you recognize this man, I would urge you to contact us, either directly to police or anonymously, contact Crimestoppers.

"I would also suggest anyone who was present for this incident and hasn't spoken to the police yet to contact us."

If you recognize the man in the photo or have any other information that may assist with the investigation, then call police 101 and refer to 6422/27FEB.

If not, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
