Police appeal to identify two women after cash theft from 91-year-old in Uxbridge

By Hannah Davenport 6th Oct 2021

The Metropolitan police issued images of two women they want to identify in their investigations into the theft of £300 from an elderly woman in Uxbridge.

The 91-year-old woman withdrew £300 on Long Lane, Hillingdon, shortly before 1 pm on Tuesday 13 July, before catching the U2 bus from Hillingdon Circus towards Brunel University.

Whilst on the bus, she noticed the two women, apparently seen in the images released by the Met Police.

She saw them again when they entered her supported living accommodation and followed her into the lift, despite not appearing to have a genuine reason for being there, according to the police.

When the victim got back into her flat, she checked her bag and realised the money she had withdrawn earlier the same day was missing.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Dougall, from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: "The elderly victim of this theft was understandably shaken by this experience.

"If there is any suggestion that an elderly victim has been specifically targeted after withdrawing money in our community, we will do our utmost to identify the person or people responsible.

"We are very keen to speak to the women in these photos and would urge the public to come forward if they can help us to identify them."

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or with more information about the identity of the two women to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 5892/13JUL.

Information can also be provided anonymously, to Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
