If a marathon sounds monstrous and a 10k equally terrible, the Ealing Mile might be the event to make a runner of even the most ardent of lifelong walker.

Held in Lammas Park on the first Friday of each month, the Ealing Mile offers a friendly and fun lunchtime run on a traffic-free course.

With Lammas Park the start and finish of the Ealing Half Marathon, the mile also gives runners in the September event a chance to get a good lie of the land before the day itself.

Open to anyone aged 4 years and above, the event welcomes participants of all abilities to tackle the course however they please, be it to race, jog or walk.

The only catch to the Ealing Mile is that no entries on the day are allowed, which means the window to register for the May Ealing Mile on Friday, May 6 is rapidly closing.

Head to the Ealing Mile web page before 10am tomorrow (Thursday, May 5) to guarantee your place and a healthy escape from lunch at your desk.
