RAISE the Woof is the world's first ever Christmas song for dogs and has already amassed over 250,000 views on Youtube in less than a week.

One of the people behind the viral success is Sean McCormack, a vet from Ealing.

McCormack works as Head Vet for tails.com , the company that came up with the hit.

McCormack, 37, in an exclusive interview with Nub News, told us all about the catchy tune.

"We wanted to put something out there that got 'tails wagging' after such a terrible year, but also to raise money for Dudes & Dogs, a men's mental health charity."

Tails.com also released a limited edition vinyl of the record, which costs £10, with all proceeds from that going to Dudes & Dogs.

"We want to raise £5,000, so that we can help this great charity with getting a new van, so please buy the vinyl, it's only a tenner and would make a great present," added the 37-year-old.

The Irishman who moved to Ealing a decade ago was responsible for researching what genre of music dogs like the most and how they relate to sound.

He said: "We recorded four tracks and tested over 500 different sounds.

"Believe it or not, soft rock and reggae are dogs' favourite genres, whereas heavy metal is their least favourite."

The song has become an instant hit worldwide, being the number one reggae track on iTunes last week.

"The reception we've got is absolutely insane, the story has been on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News in the US, but also in Australia and even Japan," McCormack added.

People have even been posting reaction videos of their dogs listening to the track, with some getting very excited at the sound of words such as 'walkies' and 'treat', whereas others don't seem to be bothered at all.

"It's incredible how many people have listened to the song and even posted their reaction photos and videos, we're very grateful for all this publicity, but it's really important people also buy the vinyl to help support Dudes & Dogs."
