Man arrested in Acton for drug dealing and carrying a knife after attempted escape
Met Police officers have arrested one male suspected of supplying drugs and carrying "a large" knife in Acton, west London.
After South Acton Police were given intelligence regarding possible drug dealing on the Acton Gardens Estate, patrols were carried out and one male was detained outside Joy House W3 for a S23 search.
A Section 23 search, under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, allows the police to stop and search a person, vehicle, or premises if they have reasonable grounds to suspect involvement with controlled drugs.
However, the male attempted to run away from the search and officers later arrested him for obstruction of S23 search.
South Acton Police say once in handcuffs, officers had to further arrest the individual for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and carrying "a large combat" knife.
Officers also found "large" amounts of cash and several mobile phones on his person.
