POLICE officers have closed down a cannabis factory in Greenford and arrested a man in the process.

Last Wednesday, February 24, officers from Northolt and Greenford Safer Neighbourhoods Teams conducted a drug search at a property on Robin Hood Way, after a warrant was obtained from Uxbridge Magistrates' Court.

After forcing their entry into the property, officers found a significant amount of cannabis plants in various states of growth, with a large quantity ready to be packed and distributed.

Officers required assistance from SSE Electric, as the wiring in the house had been pulled from the walls and ceiling, leaving it in a dangerous condition.

Officers located a 22-year-old man upstairs who was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and was taken to a local police station.

Police Sergeant Matthew Slaney, from Greenford Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: "Thanks to the good work of PCs Lewis and MacWilliam, who gathered all the intelligence to obtain this warrant, we have managed to secure and destroy a significant amount of cannabis before it could make its way onto our streets."
