Councillor Athena Zissimos, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Hanger Hill ward and colleagues have written to the CEO of Thames Water to indicate their fury at Thames Water polluting the River Brent affecting both Ealing and Brent.

A screenshot of the letter is attached.

Councillor Athena Zissimos, Hanger Hill ward, Ealing said: "Liberal Democrats say it is not okay that Thames Water pollutes the River Brent, because the government has weaken laws around environmental protections, instead of strengthening them as it had promised. Thames Water are happy to pay out dividends to shareholders rather than spend the money to sort out their overflow issues. We want to see Thames Water prosecuted."

Councillor Anton Georgiou, Leader of the Brent Liberal Democrats said: "Liberal Democrats say that volunteers have spent time and energy to clean up the River Brent so it can enjoyed by the residents from Ealing and Brent. Liberal Democrats want a clean River Brent and the Tory government is giving them permission to do this."
