Yesterday, Transport for London (TfL) and the Government agreed a funding deal that will allow TFL to operate into the future but which fails to consider the impact of inflation on fare increases or cuts to bus routes.

Councillor Gary Malcolm, Liberal Democrat leader of the opposition on Ealing Council, said: "Liberal Democrats welcome that a deal has been agreed as many transport-related improvements in the borough may have had to be cancelled but it is not a good deal for Londoners.

"It should not be for government to dictate to London what services it can or can't provide. This deal does not fully take into account the likely huge increase in inflation and will lead to fare increases, bus cuts or both. None of those are good for us."

Do email Cllr Malcolm ([email protected]) if you would like a copy of the letter detailing the agreement.
