Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust (PGMT) has appointed local Liberal Democrat councillor, Jon Ball, to its board of trustees following the success of the party in the May 2022 local elections.

The appointment of Councillor Ball, who represents Ealing Common, marks the first such appointment of a Liberal Democrat councillor to the Ealing manor's board of trustees.

Traditionally, Ealing Council nominates two trustees to join the board of Sir John Soane's remarkable country house and gallery: one from the party in control of the council, and one from the opposition.

The Liberal Democrats made election gains in May in Ealing Common and won a seat in the previously Tory stronghold of Hanger Hill, increasing their number of councillors to six and ousting the Conservatives as the official opposition party.

In this inaugural party appointment to PGMT, Cllr Ball joins Walpole ward Labour Councillor Gareth Shaw to perform non-executive roles, overseeing the strategy of Pitzhanger.

Councillor Ball said on Twitter: "I look forward to playing my part as a trustee on the Pitzhanger board."

Director of Pitzhanger manor and gallery, Clare Gough, said: "We are delighted to welcome Councillor Jon Ball to the Board and we very much look forward to working with him!"

Local elections in May 2022 promoted the Liberal Democrats to be the official opposition party in Ealing
