Ealing Council will demand at this Wednesday's Council's Cabinet meeting that Ealing Labour drop their plans to site sporting facilities on Warren Farm when the evidence is clear that this will harm endangered species like the Skylark and other species.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Athena Zissimos, spokesperson for the Environment including streets, parks, air quality and climate change said: "Liberal Democrats are very concerned that the three options in the Council report mean that around half of Warren Farm will be lost, meaning a significant loss of biodiversity and publicly accessible open space. Liberal Democrats have called for the whole of Warren Farm to be designated as a local Nature Reserve. Ealing Council needs to decide between skylarks and cricket. They cannot have both in the same space and they are fooling themselves if they think they can."

Councillor Gary Malcolm, Ealing Leader of the Opposition, added: "Liberal Democrats have seen in documents not made public that only a very small proportion of residents who were consulted said they wanted cricket or footballing facilities on Warren Farm. Many have said that if they allow a football ground to be established that it will be granted so that a relative of a Labour MP gets the contract!"
