Ealing MP Rupa Huq has said Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be ousted by his colleagues within two weeks.

Her remarks this morning follow a series of high-profile resignations over emerging facts about the Chris Pincher scandal that began last night with the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, and Health Secretary, Sajid Javid.

The Labour MP for Ealing Central and Acton reacted to the Cabinet meltdown on Twitter yesterday where she wrote the government was "falling like skittles".

It is a sentiment she repeated this morning along with comments on the Prime Minister's future, made amid growing speculation that the 1922 Committee – the organising body for Conservative MPs – will change a rule that protects Johnson from another vote of no confidence until June 2023.

In her latest Tweet, Huq said two Conservative sources confirmed the 1922 rules will be changed and a vote of confidence held before Parliament rises for the summer in a fortnight.

The Tory MPs, both of whom have resigned their government positions, expect the Prime Minister to lose this vote.

Rupa Huq wrote: "Just spoke to TWO Tory MPs in the corridor, both have resigned their govt roles and say 1922 rules will change so Johnson gone by recess."

"Meanwhile as government literally falling apart completely deluded Daily Express continues its dispatches from the bunker," she added, with a picture of the Daily Express front page.
