The permanent cleaning operative post will require a flexible approach to shift working and location of work within the council and whilst a regular site and roster pattern will be agreed the post holder may be required adapt to changes in the roster and site to meet the needs of the service.

Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • You will undertake team and individual work as a cleaning operative across various sites.
  • Clean according to agreed schedules for sites including clearing waste bins on floors, washing, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping as appropriate and cleaning tasks within cleaning specification.
  • Undertake ad hoc cleaning tasks as directed by the cleaning manager.
  • Work 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

Successful candidates will need the following:

  • Demonstrable previous cleaning experience.
  • Understanding and working awareness and of relevant Health and Safety procedures and systems including COSHH, Manual Handling, Personal Protective Equipment, Slips Trips and Falls etc. sufficient to safely work without direct supervision, working well in a team and understanding of reporting accident, incident and near miss.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including ability to liaise with stakeholders and monitor cleaning comments books.

This role is full-time with a salary between £20,658 - £21,408 p/a.
