HS2 announces February 2025 construction works in Ealing
HS2 (High Speed Rail 2) has various upcoming works next month around Ealing. Keep reading to find out all the details.
Northolt
From 7 to 28 February 2025, HS2 teams will be constructing a cross passage 19 near Carr Road, Northolt.
It will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During this time there will be periods of noisy works.
To avoid overnight disturbance, HS2 say it will limit noisy activities to between 7am and 10pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm on Saturday and 10 am to 3pm on Sunday and carry out quieter works during the night.
Cross passages between the tunnels will allow HS2 passengers to get to a place of safety in an emergency, and are approximately 500 metres apart along the route.
Cross passage construction involves breaking into the side of the completed tunnel.
This might generate some noise and vibration which may be heard or felt as ground borne noise in nearby buildings when transmitted through the ground to the surface.
This cross passage is about 30 meters away from the closest property, HS2 say.

Hanger Lane
Update: power connection works on West Gate, W5, near Hanger Lane - 3 to 28 February 2025
In December 2024 HS2 planned to carry out power connection works to our Westgate Ventilation Shaft and Headhouse construction site, which was postponed.
This work will now take place from 3 to 28 February 2025 on West Gate near Manhattan Apartments.
HS2 will be digging a small trench and joint bay for installing ducts below ground to pull through and connect the HV cable.
It will close a part of the footpath and cycle lane on West Gate near the Manhattan Apartments during this work.
A pedestrian diversion will be in place. Cyclists will need to dismount from their bikes and use the pedestrian diversion route.
HS2 will be using hand-held tools and a vacuum excavator.
In addition it says it will put up noise reducing barriers where possible to minimise disruption to the local community.

Greenford
New borehole on West Green Place, Greenford - 3 to 8 February 2025
In order to support the construction of the new HS2 tunnels, we need to carry out groundwater monitoring along the line of route.
From Monday 3 to Saturday 8 February 2025 we need to drill a new groundwater monitoring borehole on West Green Place.
HS2 will carry out a visual survey using handheld equipment.
It will then drill a borehole in the ground. Once the borehole is complete, a secure cover will be installed.
The borehole will be located in between parking spaces so teams can routinely access it to take readings.
HS2 need to suspend three parking bays for the duration of the work.
A mobile welfare unit will be parked in one of the bays. Access to properties will be maintained.
Residents may notice some additional noise during these works, say HS2.
It will then use noise reducing barriers where possible. Staff may return at intervals to carry out monitoring.
